Colors generate responses. While some hues make us feel more relaxed, others are more stimulating and energetic. This is the reason why we find some rooms more appealing and get queasy feelings in others. Below are some tips which will assist you in choosing the color of your rooms wisely.
  1. Consider the mood
Always keep the temperament of the room in mid when choosing paints. Bedrooms are meant to be comfortable and serene, so light and neutral hues will work perfectly. Dining rooms can be both formal and convivial in appearance. Deep cerulean and greens make it more formal whilst contrasting hues like orange, yellow, red and purple will make the ambience more sociable. Sometimes extremely bright colors in a room can make a person more irritable and restless so take caution when choosing bold colors when painting the rooms of children.

  1. Add visual texture
Go creative and turn your boring flat surfaced wall into fascinating surfaces by adding visual texture and depth. Metallic finishes (bronze, mica, gold, copper and silver) and colored glazes add more depth. These decorative finishes make the room chic and elegant.
  1. Create a color scheme
It is strongly recommended that you do not choose the color of the walls first. Before proceeding to choose the colors, select other items which are difficult to find like wall hangings, rugs and furnishings. After deciding these, you can choose the colors. Some people like to keep the paint neutral with bold d├ęcor, others do the opposite.
  1. Think about lighting
Lighting plays an integral part in creating the ambience of the room and it should never be overlooked. It makes the colors look different depending on how it reflects and deflects the surfaces at different times of the day. Consider indigo which looks rubicund in one room, but has the tendency to appear bluish in a different room.
